Marvens is a new graduate of the Academy of Magical Toothing, a prestigious rat apprenticeship where magical fairy rats learn the trade of sleuthing and wishing teeth for children. As a descendant from a long line of famous rat tooth fairies, Marvens embarks on his first day on the job! 
 
Scurry and giggle along as he learns to believe in himself and apply what he’s learned in school.  This tale is told from the perspective of the Rat tooth fairy in the Haitian fable that instructs children to throw their newly lost teeth on the rooftops of houses for the rat to come, recuperate them, and give them new teeth. 
 
About the Author:  
 
Regine is a Haitian-American mother, lawyer, strategist, and author. She’s the proud co-founder of Isse & Lo, the imprint behind this magical box set. These fables are a labor of love in her mindful contribution to keeping Haitiian and Caribbean oral stories alive. 

 
About the Illustrator: 
 
Pierre-Richard Raphael, also known as Pyelila (neem tree in English), is a young Haitian visual artist, specializing in Illustration, Photography, and Graphic Design.
 
Haitian folklore and fantasy sprinkle magic into his vibrant style and cultural inspiration. This has always shaped his art into a tool used to articulate and celebrate every beautiful story from Haiti’s past, present, and future. 
 
After earning his Art studies at Ecole Nationale des Arts (ENARTS) in Port-au-Prince, he embarked on a freelance career in visual art. This path has given him a form of freedom and pride to showcase Haitian illustrations and to honor the representation of many aspects of the Haitian heritage that need an equitable voice.
